Nurhasanah is a long-time patient that the Social Team has helped over the past several years. Although just a teenager, Nurhasanah lives alone, as her father has passed away and her mother has remarried and is not involved in her ongoing care.
Nurhasanah has a medical condition called Neurofibromatosis. Access Life Lombok has assisted in the process of her receiving a leg amputation surgery, receiving a prosthetic leg, helping diagnose her epilepsy, and having an operation to remove a tumor on her head. We are hoping that 2020 will be the year she will finally have a surgery to remove a large tumor that has caused her eyelid to become overgrown.
We were planning for the eye surgery to occur in October 2019, however, after several appointments with the plastic surgeon in Lombok, we were informed that it was not possible to have the surgery here as Nurhasanah’s epilepsy complicates her case. Nurhasanah was referred to surgeons in Bali.
The Social Team has accompanied her through all of the procedures and doctor’s appointments and met with doctors in Bali regarding her eye surgery in January 2020. However, due to Covid-19, the surgery has not yet been scheduled and we await a call from the hospital to proceed with the operation.
