Just in Time

Both Mr. and Mrs. Wayan have physical limitations and are not in good health. Before the pandemic they did what little work they could – collecting trash and looking for things that could be recycled to make some money, selling vegetables at the local market, and working in a nearby rice field. However, with the pandemic and their health issues, they are no longer able to collect recyclables or work in the market. Their difficult situation became desperate. Almost every time we go to their house with a food packet, they have just run out of food and were praying for God to provide their next meal.

In December 2020, one of our local partners noticed they had one chicken running around their yard. It’s pretty normal here for people to have a whole flock of chickens running around, but they had only one. She and another teammate arranged to give them 3 more chickens in hopes that the chickens will provide them with eggs to eat and maybe even sell.
