Pak Supardi suffered a stroke three years ago and could not leave his home. He lived in an impoverished inner-city neighborhood, and he could not enjoy the sunshine. He also had pain in one knee and had fallen several times when attempting to walk. On the first visit, we were able to give him a walker and taught him how to use it safely. He quickly enjoyed the freedom to move independently within his small home.
We visited again and gave him a folding wheelchair. We instructed his family to assist him with his wheelchair so that he could enjoy the sun, visit neighbors, and go to medical appointments at the hospital nearby. Pak Supardi and his family appreciate the new freedom he has because of our assistance and the medical equipment we have given him.
